Zuhair Murad Spring 2011 couture was hands down my favourite show of the Paris collections. No questions. In order to please me with couture, one of two things needs to happen. A designer can either create a collection of the most beautifully dreamlike pieces imagineable; pieces that make me lust for any kind of event (and financial backing) to wear such confections. Or, a designer needs to make a collection that isn't necessarily attractive, but that is really saying someting about the political/social/cultural climate in which the clothes are being made and consumed.
Zuhair Murad fulfilled the former requirement. Each piece that came down the runway made me want to shed a joyful tear at the sheer beauty of the garment. Feminine, sexy, classy, flowy, and billowy are words that come to mind. The collection had an Alexandrian feel to it with plenty of whites, golds, and cornflower blues accented with metallic gold. It was just phenomenal and makes me dream of dining al fresco on a glamorous yacht on the Riviera. Okay, I'm a total dork. The clothes:
